Spring break is almost here!
Even if you work and only have a free day or two to spend with the family, there is plenty to do near by. We picked a few of our favorites, and they are only a few of the great places for a day trip in Florida.
Bowling
If you're looking to stick close to home but still have a fun day out with the family. There is a bowling alley in Winter Haven and Lakeland both have a great set of lanes, and an arcade to enjoy too.
Bok Tower Gardens
Picnics, photography, trail hiking, or bird watching; if you want to spend some time outdoors and relaxing, this is the place. The Singing Tower and gardens are a great place to spend the day with the family.
Morikami Japanese Garden
A little further out of the way than Bok Tower, Morikami is another great choice for a trip to a Botanical Garden
Solomon's Castle
Tucked away in the woods of Florida is one man's dream turned reality. A castle, ship and other works art created from upcycled and reclaimed junk, made by the "DiVinci of Debris," Howard Solomon. Solomon's Castle is certainly one of Florida's unique places to visit.
Legoland
Check out the park where every young Lego fan's dreams come true. Rumor has it that everything is awesome in the park.
The Beach
Due north is about the only direction you can drive and not hit a beach within a few hours. Take your pick, Florida has plenty of great beaches to spend the day on having some fun in the sun.
Ringling Museum
The Ringling has all sorts of educational and entertaining things to do. From museums, to gardens, to live theater; check out their website for tickets and schedules for everything they have to offer.
Orlando Science Center
There are always exciting exhibits and events going on at the Orlando Science Center, check out their website for ticket prices and the full schedule. It's a fun and educational place for kids of all ages.
2Infinty Trampoline Park
If the kids are bouncing off the walls with nothing to do, a good solution might be to give them some time in a room full of trampolines. Check out their site for tickets and safety guidelines.
Kennedy Space Center

If you want a little more specific science center to explore with the family, Kennedy has you covered on all things space and rocket related. On to of that, there's even a rocket launch scheduled for the 13th of March, the details can be found on their website. Watching a rocket launch can be a real blast
I-Drive Orlando
International Drive in Orlando isn't just the gateway to that universally enjoyed park, or the one with all the mice. There are plenty of things to do outside the big theme parks, right on I-Drive. Wonderworks, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, A giant Ferris wheel, and even a skeleton museum with over 500 real skeletons on display. (The last place is called "Skeletons" if you have trouble finding it.)
Springs at Florida State Parks
Similar to beaches, Florida has it's share of beautiful springs. Unlike the beaches, we're not surrounded on three sides by the springs, but fortunately quite a few are state parks. Whether you want to swim, camp, hike, or kayak they've all got plenty to do with the family.
