Plant City

Plant City is known for it's strawberries, producing more than 75 percent of the winter strawberries in the United States. Downtown  Plant city is a charming area with gift shops, antique stores and restaurants. There are numberous historic buildings in the downtown area, many of which have been restored and are still in use today.

Plant City was originally called Ichepucksassa after the Indian village that used to occupy the area. Plant City was renamed after railroad developer Henry B. Plant.ho built the railroad and incorporated it with the South Florida Railroad.Plant City is primarily an agricultural community, as it oncewas a large cotton center. But ever since the production of strawberries. The town of Plant City is known as the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World and hosts the annual Florida Strawberry Festival. The Plant City festival has been around for more than 80 years. the festival includes on-stage entertainment, livestock and, of course, strawberries. 

Also in Plant City is the Plant City Bing Rooming House Museum, which promotes the proud heritage of one of only two National African-American Landmarks in Hillsborough County. Both were established to preserve African American history.
